Abstract
The Tourism Act establishes the Ghana Tourism Authority, which is tasked with the regulation and promotion of tourism enterprises and sites within Ghana. The primary objective of the Act is to enhance the tourism sector by providing a legal framework for the registration and licensing of tourism enterprises, ensuring compliance with standards, and promoting sustainable tourism practices. Key legal principles include the requirement for tourism enterprises to obtain valid licenses from the Authority, as well as the establishment of a Tourism Development Fund aimed at financing tourism related projects. Additionally, the Act establishes an inter-agency committee to facilitate the licensing process and mandates inspections of premises by authorized inspectors. The implementation of the Act involves the establishment of regional and district offices of the Authority to perform functions as determined by the Board. The Act consists of 51 Articles.
