Abstract
This Act establishes the Veterinary Council of Ghana and defines its functions and powers. The Act also makes provision for the registration of veterinary surgeons with the Registrar of the Council and establishes conditions for the execise of the practice as veterinary surgeon. The Council shall be concerned with the veterinary practice and practitioners and shall be responsible for securing the highest standards in the practice of veterinary medicine in Ghana. The Council shall in particular- (a) prescribe standards of professional conduct and ethics for practitioners; (b) uphold and enforce professional standards by disciplinary powers conferred under this Law; (c) maintain and publish a register of practitioners. Nothing in this Law shall apply to unregistered persons performing specified operations and treatment of animals.
