The Access to Information Act, no. 10 of 2021.

This Act, consisting of eighty sections and divided into eight parts, provides for the right to access public records and information held by public authorities, public bodies, and private persons operating with public funds or benefits. The Act covers the following matters: duty to create, keep, organise and maintain information; disclosure of information, including contracts, licenses, permits, authorisations and public-private partnerships granted by the beneficiaries; submission of implementation Plans and annual reports; right to access information and request for access; duty to assist requesters; fees for request; exemptions and refusal to grant access to information in the following cases: commercial and confidential information; protection of life, health and safety of individuals; national security and defence; international relations; economic interests of the State; access causing prejudice to prevention of crime, administration of justice, collection of taxes; privileged communications; academic or professional examination.
Further matters covered by this Act include: right to review any decision concerning access to information; establishment of the information Commission, and criteria for appointment of commissioners; powers and duties of the Commission, including: any necessary duty to ensure promotion, monitoring and protection of the right to access information; monitoring activity; submission of an implementation Plan containing processes, mechanisms and policies to facilitate the implementation of the Act; financial provisions and fund of the Commission.
