Abstract
The Agreement sets out conditions for fishing off the coast of Gambia. It is divided into 18 articles, one Annex and one Protocol. Fishing activities by European Union fishing vessels are subject to the issuance of a licence (upon payment by shipowners of a fee based on the ship gross tonnage) by the Gambian authority. Article 7 provides for the retaining of a certain percentage of the total catch. The conditions of such retaining are to be established by the Commission provided for in article 11. Article 9 concerns the financial compensation to be paid by the European Union for fishing off the coast of Gambia. Final articles deal with settlement of disputes, amendments to the agreement, application, entry into force.
