Abstract
These Guidelines, made by the Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) concern the establishing of service standards governing all stages of potable water production, potable water distribution, sewage collection, and sewage disposal. These standards refer to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and work done by the Water and Sanitation Sectoral Committee of the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR). They concern: 1. Coverage of the Service Area; 2. Drinking Water Quality; 3. Continuity of Service; 4. Pressure in the Water Supply Network; 5. Unjustified Disconnections; 6. Sewage Flooding; 7. Quality of Discharged Treated Sewage; 8. Billing and Collection; 9. Customer Perception; 10. Support to Public Institutions on Curbing Wastage and Timely Bill Settlement.
