Abstract
This Act makes provision for rights in the continental shelf of The Gambia and regulates application of criminal and civil law, protection of installations, safety of navigation, discharge of oil, laying of sub-marine cables, the prosecution of offences by private persons and bodies corporate, powers of the police and regulation making powers of the Minister responsible for the administration of this Act. The Act gives effect to certain provisions of the Convention on the High Seas. All rights exercisable by the Gambia outside territorial waters in an area designated from time to time by the Governor-General and respecting seabed and sub-soil and their natural resources shall be vested in the Crown.
