Abstract
These Regulations, made under provisions of section 59 of the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2011, apply to all fortified food products with micronutrients added manufactured, imported, distributed, sold and used in the Gambia, excluding food products for export. The Regulations define the following relevant terms: fortification; fortified food; micronutrient; mineral nutrient; nutrient reasonable value; vitamin. Matters covered by these Regulations include: competent authority for the implementation and enforcement of the Regulations; list of food products required to be fortified, including: wheat flour, salt, vegetable oils; prohibitions; advertisement of food products without micronutrients; label declaration and packaging; responsibility of establishments licensed to process and trade in micronutrients and fortification products; offences and fines.
