Groundnuts and Groundnut Products Regulations, 2023.

These Regulations, made under Section 59 of the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2011, apply to: all stages of production, processing, distribution and marketing of groundnuts and groundnut products; any stage, from the primary production of a food or feed, its storage, transport, sale or supply to the final consumer; the importation, exportation, production, manufacture, storage, transport, distribution, sale and supply of groundnuts and their products. The Regulations concern: compliance of any food business operator trading or producing groundnuts and groundnut products for the purpose of human, or animal consumption with the provisions of the Act; essential composition, permitted additives and quality factors of the products; duties of the Authority to monitor food business operators and distributors of groundnuts and groundnut products; duties of the food business operators to prevent any food safety hazards and to comply with hygienic practices, packaging and labelling requirements and good agricultural practices; penalties; list of guidelines and good practices.
