Abstract
The Act provides for the establishment of a National Water Resources Council (sect. 3), a National Water Resources Committee (sect. 8) and a Department of Water Resources. The Council (consisting of Ministers) shall be responsible to formulate the overall water resources policy and to approve plans submitted by the Committee and funds for projects (sect. 7). The Committee (consisting of officials at director level) shall be, inter alia, responsible for the promotion of water resources management and the approval and coordination of projects or schemes (sect. 10). Functions of the Department are described in sections 12 and 13.
