Abstract
This Public Health Emergency Operations Centre Plan plays a crucial role in the coordination of information and resources for efficient and effective coordination of emergency planning, training, response and recovery efforts in The Gambia, as well as establishment of standard procedures. In order to achieve response to public health emergencies and unity of effort among response agencies, this document outlines the key concepts and essential requirements for managing a public health emergency operations centre in The Gambia, defined as an occurrence, or imminent threat of an illness or health condition that poses a substantial risk to the human health. The Plan provides for: the components of an emergency response plan; incident management principles, including: risk assessment, prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery; information and communications technology infrastructure; information systems and standards; monitoring and evaluation; education and training; funding and costs of the Plan; contingency Plan for public health emergencies; social services and welfare during emergencies; damage assessment.
