Action Plan for the Quarantine against the Harmful Organism Xylella Fastidiosa.

This Action Plan, made in accordance with Article 3a of Executive Decision (EU) 2015/789, concerning measures to prevent the introduction and spread into the Union of the organism Xylella fastidiosa (Wells et al.), aims at protecting the country and preventing the Xylella bacteria from entering the Greek territory, and thus provides for: describing roles and responsibilities of the competent Authority for plant health and the other bodies involved in the activity of plant protection; defining rules for the exchange of information between the Authority stakeholders, industry professionals and the general public; defining protocols and examination methods for laboratory testing; making available the minimum financial resources needed for implementing the phytosanitary controls.
Specifically, the Action Plan focuses on: controls on import of plant products from third countries and controls during transport of products; implementation of the following targeted measures: detection of Xylella bacteria; control of suspicious cultures; prohibition of planting in areas affected by the bacteria; measures against cultures in which the bacteria has been detected, including quarantine and disinfection; elimination of the pest and limitation of its spread.
