Law 4792/2021. Incorporation of Directive (EU) 2019/633 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on unfair commercial practices in business-to-business relations in the agricultural and food supply chain.

This Law provides for the incorporation into Greek Legislation of the Directive (EU) 2019/633 of the European Parliament and of the Council, regarding unfair commercial practices in business-to-business relations in the agricultural and food supply chain. This Law applies to suppliers with limited and defined annual turnover and does not concern transactions between suppliers and consumers. The following relevant terms are defined: agricultural products and foodstuffs; purchaser of agricultural products and food; perishable agricultural products and food; supplier of agricultural products and food. The Law concerns prohibition of unfair terms and practices under any circumstances; measures to regulate supply agreements between buyers and suppliers and prohibited practices; tasks of enforcement authorities, including power to carry out investigation and to impose fines; submission of complaints. Other matters covered by this Law concern specification of competences of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, including: facilitating access to finance for farmers; consulting services in the agricultural sector; extension of the time period for granting the use of agricultural properties.
