Abstract
Aim of the Institution for the Control of Foodstuffs (E.F.E.T.) is to guarantee for the import, production and distribution of healthy foods, the certification of appropriateness, the control of quality and the qualitative upgrade of foodstuffs. It determines the quality specifications which the offered for human consumption foodstuffs should comply with, the raw or additional matters that are intended for addition in foodstuffs. It implements the guides to good hygiene practices and the rules of hygiene for foodstuffs according to Council Directive 93/43/EEC and any other international or European Community relevant rule and controls the observation of these rules. Specifically, the control shall be carried out on the preparation, processing, manufacturing, packaging, storing, transportation, distribution, handling and offering for sale or supply of foodstuffs. Also, the control on the production system includes the control of the points identified as critical to food safety at the productive process.
