Law no. 4470 of 2017. Ratification of the International Convention on Control and Management of Ship's Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004.

This Law, consisting of fourteen articles, provides for ratification of the International Convention on Control and Management of Ship's Ballast Water and Sediments, signed in London, on the 13th February 2004, and for matters related to the application of the Convention. Further articles of the Law concern: the field of application of the provisions of the Law, including ships for the protection of the marine environment; exemptions; approval and control of ballast management system; ballast sediments reception facilities and powers of the port authority; issuance of international ballast management certification; sanctions in case of violations.
