Law no. 4801 of 2021. Production, export and distribution of finished medicinal cannabis products of the Cannabis Sativa L species with a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of more than 0.2% and other provisions.

This Law, consisting of 47 articles, provides for: simplifying the process of exporting medicinal cannabis products and ensuring the safe supply of finished medicinal cannabis products under conditions of the highest security; for setting more specific conditions for the production, distribution, circulation of the finished medicinal cannabis products of the Cannabis Sativa L species with a content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) above of 0.2%; and for amending other Laws concerning the sectors of food, feed and animal health. Chapter six of this Law provides for amending the regulatory framework in the areas of food, animal feed and animal health and protection, amending articles 3, 22, and 23 of the Law no. 4235 of 2014, and Law no. 4512 of 2018. Amendments concern: monitoring activities; risk assessment and actions of competent authorities; actions that may endanger animal health, public health and the public interest in general, in relation to the requirements of European and National legislation; management of animal products, and by-products; marking and identification of the country of origin of the products; use of protected geographical indications and other indications; indications of organic products; imposition of administrative measures and criminal sanctions in case of non-compliance with the provisions of the Law, following inspections.
