Abstract
This Decree sets forth general principles for the improvement of livestock farming. It makes extensive provisions for: the use of animals with reproduction purposes (art. 1); training of scientific personnel (art. 2); artificial insemination and breeding animals (art. 3); quality control of reproduction animals output (art. 5); registers and herd books (art. 6); license to operate for poultry farms and related matters (art. 7); operators of dairy farms (art. 8); making and putting in the market of animal feed (art. 9); live animal markets (art. 11); penal sanctions (art. 14).

Entry into force notes
The Decree shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette except for the provisions of articles 2 and 9 which shall enter into force as from 1 January 1974.
