Memorandum of Understanding in the field of forestry between the Republic of Turkey and the Hellenic Republic on the cooperation.

This Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the Hellenic Republic concerns the cooperation in the field of forestry. The Parties agree upon cooperation for (i) forest fire database, (ii) forest fire prevention and rehabilitation of degraded forest areas, (iii) combatting desertification, erosion, forest pests and insects, (iv) GIS application in the forestry activities, (v) sustainable forest management, (vi) watershed management, (vii) forest monitoring, (viii) biodiversity conservation, (ix) climate change adaptation and mitigation, (x) soil conservation, (xi) seedling production, (xii) range rehabilitation and (xiii) establishment of memorial forest in Ankara and Athens. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information and documents, as well as of experts, advisors, researchers and NGO members, and by development of joint projects and research. The Parties may organize training programs, meetings, conferences, and symposiums. A Joint Committee shall be established. This MoU may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This MoU shall be valid for five years and may be extended for successive periods of five years unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
