Ministerial Circular no. Δ1(δ)/ΓΠ οικ.25008 of 2024. Risk assessment of internal (domestic) water distribution systems for human consumption in priority facilities - Application of the provisions of article 10 of no. D1(d)/GPok.27829/2023 KYA.

This Ministerial Circular, in compliance with the provisions of Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the quality of water for human consumption, introduces an integrated approach to water safety, based on risk assessment and covering the entire water supply chain, from catchment, water abstraction, treatment, storage, distribution to the compliance with quality parameters. According to the Circular, the risk-based approach consists in assessing the potential hazards such as bacteria, lead and other hazardous substances that may enter in contact with water, and in implementing appropriate measures accordingly, through general analysis of the potential hazards associated with the domestic distribution system, and by monitoring the parameters for water quality and human health,. The Circular applies to large installations for public use of water, where many users are potentially exposed to water-related risks; and therefore it involves the Environmental Health Services and the Water Supply Bodies of the country.
