Abstract
This Decision authorizes the compulsory application of the programme for the control and eradication of goat and sheep brucellosis in all goat and sheep holdings in the country. The purpose of the programme is to reduce the prevalence of Br. melitensis in the sheep and goat population of the country and the protection of Public Health through the production of safe products from these animals. The prevalence of the bacterium Br. melitensis calculated cumulatively in the grubbing-up zone (ECA) as at 31/12/2019, is fixed at a rate of less than or equal to 4% of the total ovine and caprine holdings to be incurred at that date. The vaccination rate in the vaccination zone (ZEM) at 31/12/2019 is 95%. The programme is compulsorily implemented throughout Greece by the Veterinary Directorate of each Region and the Veterinary Departments of the Rural Economics and Veterinary Directorates (IACS) of the Regional Units (IP). It may be designated by the Central Veterinary Office of the YPATA Programme Implementing Body in accordance with the current provisions, so that the policy for the treatment of brucellosis can be reset.
