Ministerial Decision no. 147/21886 of 2021. Programme for epizoological surveillance, prevention and control of African swine fever in wild boars, definition of a framework for cooperation between competent authorities and agencies for the management of the wild boar population, the strengthening of the surveillance of African swine fever in wild boars and the management of outbreaks of the disease in wild boars.

This Ministerial Decision provides for preparing and implementing the programme for the prevention and control of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars (Sus scrofa) and their hybrids in the country, and therefore, concerns the direct and effective participation of the relevant authorities and of actors in this programme. The Decision concerns: establishment of competent authorities, veterinary officers and responsible bodies, for monitoring and implementing the programme; definition of four areas of action to implement the programme: 1) control of wild boars population; 2) passive surveillance of African swine fever throughout the country, with the systematic collection and laboratory examination; 3) active surveillance of African swine fever, based on the collection of blood and tissue samples from hunted wild boars and their hybrids; 4) taking control measures, after the outbreak of the disease. The Decision provides for the cooperation of hunting agencies with the Ministry of Environment, in order to define responsibilities and roles in the implementation of the programme; measures for ensuring the safety and quality of meat of hunted boars; education and training of forestry officials, hunters and private game wardens in the sampling process; specification of biosecurity measures to comply with; penalties.
