Abstract
This Ministerial Decision approves the Regulation on Fire Protection of Archaeological Sites, with fire protection measures and means for the prevention and suppression of fires in archaeological sites. The Regulation establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for the implementation and monitoring of fire protection measures, in order to f enhance the degree of fire safety, reduce vulnerability and limit the spread of any fire in any archeological site. The Regulation sets the minimum requirements for taking measures and means for the timely notification of the public in the event of a fire, ensuring emergency routes and exits, placing the required markings, preparing organised evacuation plans, training personnel, managing vegetation and creating protection zones, structural fire protection of the building envelope, implementing fire suppression measures, and inspecting and maintaining fire protection equipment and systems. The Regulation covers the following matters: basic strategies; overall risk assessment of an archeological site; protection of human life in archaeological sites; estimated climate risk for forest fires; fire protection measures and measures for ensuring the safe evacuation of the public; management of vegetation and combustible plant products, including logging and removal of dry and broken branches.
