Abstract
This Decree approves the principles for assessment of risks to man and the environment of substances notified in accordance with Council Directive 67/548/EEC. Also the Decree aims at harmonizing the existing legislative frame with Commission Directive 93/67/EEC. This Decree lays down general principles for the assessment of the risks posed by substances to man and the environment as required by article 3 of Decree No. 378/94. It is composed of seven articles as follows: objectives (art. 1); definitions (art. 2); principles of risk assessment (art. 3); risk assessment, human health (art. 4); risk assessment, environment (art. 5); risk assessment, conclusions (art. 6); content of written report to the Commission (art. 7). Five Annexes attached to the Decree lay down detailed provisions regarding the matters concerned above: Annex I, risk assessment: human health (toxicity); Annex II, risk assessment: human health (physical-chemical properties); Annex III, risk assessment: environment; Annex IV, overall integration of conclusions; Annex V, information to be included in summary of risk assessment.
