Abstract
A Decree establishing that the name "Topikos oinos Trifilias" shall be reserved for dry white or red table wines produced by the traditional methods in the region of Messinia, provided they fulfil the specific requirements prescribed by the present Decree.
For dry white wines: they are produced by "UGNI BLANC" and "FILERI" grape varieties. The "UGNI BLANC" variety must not exceed the 20% of the total percentage; they are produced by grapes planted in vineyards situated in adequate areas (at least 50 meters above the sea level). Such vineyards should not yield 1.200 kg /1/4 of an acre; the temperature of the alcoholic fermentation can not exceed the 20 C; the alcohol grade of such white wines should not be inferior of 10.5 % VOL. but it can not exceed the 12 % VOL.
For red wines: they may be produced by "CABERNET SAUVIGNON", "CABERNET FRANC", "GRENACHE ROUGE", "MERLOT" and "CARIGNAN" grape varieties; they are produced by grapes planted in vineyards situated in adequate areas (at least 50 meters above the sea level). Such vineyards should not yield 1.000 kg /1/4 of an acre; the alcohol grade of such red wines should not be inferior of 11 % VOL. but it can not exceed the 12.5 % VOL.
