Abstract
The Decree approves the modification of article 26 of the Food Code as regards plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, in compliance with Commission Directive 2008/39/EC amending Directive 2002/72/EC. More specifically, the Decree brings forth certain amendments throughout the text of the article in accordance with the amendments made to Directive 2002/72/EC, with particular regard to the list of additives which may be used for the manufacture of plastic materials and articles, as well as to related restrictions.

The provisions of the present Decree shall enter into force after its publication in the Official Gazette in such a way so as to: (a) permit the trade in and use of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and complying with the provisions of article 26, as amended by this Decree, from 7 March 2009; (b) prohibit the manufacture and importation of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and which do not comply with the provisions of article 26, as amended, from 1 January 2010.
