Abstract
The Decree aims at adopting the Greek legislative frame to Council Directive 80/778/EEC by establishing standards for water intended for human consumption according to the provisions set forth by the Directive. For the purposes of this Decree, water intended for human consumption shall mean all water used for consumption or used in food processing and foodstuffs in its finished form. The standards set forth in this Decree shall not apply to natural mineral waters and medicinal waters. The allowable values which make water suitable for human consumption and the qualitative parameters related thereto are shown in Annex I. The Decree provides also for the establishment of competent authorities, certain derogations from this Decree and the related information to the European Community, protective measures to be adopted in the event of emergencies. The qualitative and microbiological parameters for water are set forth in Annex I while Annexes II and III establish methods of analysis of water.
