Abstract
This Decision provides for the control of hazardous waste. The aim of the Decision is to apply provisions of law No. 1650/86 (article 12, paragraphs 2, 3 and 4), to replace Decision No. 72751/3054/1985 and to harmonize the Greek legislative framework with the provisions of Council Directive 91/689/EEC on hazardous waste, so as to ensure managing hazardous wastes properly due to the risks they may pose to the environment and human health. The Decision sets out extensive procedures to be followed when disposing of, carrying and receiving hazardous waste. A list of hazardous wastes is annexed to the text (Annex I) while Annex II lists a number of properties of waste which render it hazardous (such as explosive, flammable, carcinogenic, or corrosive).
