Ministerial Joint Decree No. 257543 establishing additional measures for the implementation of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1148/2001 as regards checks on conformity to the marketing standards applicable to fresh fruit and vegetables.

The present Decree lays down additional measures for the implementation of the provisions of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1148/2001 as regards checks on conformity to the marketing standards applicable to fresh fruit and vegetables. The Ministry of Agriculture shall carry out checks at all stages of marketing on conformity to the marketing standards laid down in Title I of Regulation (EC) No 2200/96 and in accordance with Regulation 1148/2001. Through its 14 articles, the Decree establishes: the competent authorities for the coordination and controls in the areas covered by this Decree; the set up of a database (Register) for traders involved in marketing fresh fruit and vegetables and the procedures and documentation related thereto; a system of sampling checks on the conformity to marketing standards of products held by traders at all stages of marketing; conformity checks with the marketing standards on products imported from or exported to third countries, before release for free circulation; rules on products intended for processing; methods of inspection.
