Abstract
Aim of present Decree is to lay down the terms, conditions and process of issuing a license to operate of slaughterhouses or to modernize them. To this end, measures are set forth in this Decree, more specifically, to implement article 4 (Chapter II, Part I and Chapter, Part II), Annex III of EU Regulation No. 853/2004 and articles 31 and 54 of EU Regulation No. 882/2004. The procedure for issuing a license to slaughterhouses in order to operate or to modernize is prescribed in article 3 while the rules required are laid down in article 4 to this Decree. The duration of the license is set forth in article 5. In case a request for a slaughterhouse establishment is rejected, the procedure for an appeal is described in article 6. Sanctions are set forth in article 7. Article 8 establishes that the operation of approved slaughterhouses is ruled according to the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 79/2007.

As from the entry into force of the present Decree, the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 490/1976 and Presidential Decree No. 460/1978 are repealed.
