Abstract
Following the issuance of Directive 73/437/EΕC on certain sugars intended for human consumption, this Order aims at harmonizing the provisions of the Greek legislative frame related to this topic with the provisions of the aforementioned Directive. Therefore, this Order sets forth standards applicable to certain sugar types, namely: semi-white sugar; sugar or white sugar; extra-white sugar; sugar solution; invert sugar solution; invert sugar syrup; glucose syrup; dried glucose syrup; dextrose or dextrose monohydrate; and dextrose or dextrose anhydrous. The provisions of this Order shall not apply to such products if they take the form of icing sugars, candy sugars or sugars in loaf form. The Order also prescribes labelling provisions for foodstuffs containing such types of sugar.

The Order enters into force as from 1 January 1981 except for the provisions of article 9 (sanctions) which shall enter into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
