Abstract
This Decree-Law covers iodized salt used for the following purposes: a) As a food ingredient, food additive supplement, or nutritional element, and includes salt of marine origin, from underground deposits, salt lakes, and also from natural brine; b) In the preservation of food substances and in the chemical industry. The salt above referred may be produced within national territory or, above all, imported. It also specifies its physical-chemical characteristics and the mandatory salt iodization requirements.
