Decree No. 10/2017 approving the Regulation for Environmental Inspection.

This Decree approves the Regulation for Environmental Inspection. This Regulation establishes the regulatory framework for inspection in the field of the environment, under article 53 of Law No. 1/2011 of 2 March. The Environmental Inspection Regulation, Central Service of the State's Direct Administration, as a mission aims to assess the performance and management of the services and bodies responsible for the environmental sector or subject to its supervision, through monitoring and control actions. In addition, it aims to ensure control and inspection of compliance with environmental legislation, defining its organic structure and staff, regulating rights, duties, etc. of environmental inspectors, the guarantees and duties of the inspected entities, the procedures of financial audit of environmental impact and establishing as well the sanction regime.
