This Investment Plan for Sustainable Energy in Guinea-Bissau for the period 2015-2030. This Investment Prospectus was developed for the Government of Guinea-Bissau with the aim of promoting investment in the energy sector in the country, and in particular, to achieve its objectives in the context of the SEforALL initiative “Sustainable Energy for All” and the related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG #7: “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030”. The SEforALL initiative is consistent with the emerging SDG #7, with regard to access to energy, energy efficiency and renewable energy and aims to contribute to helping different countries achieve SDG #7. The SEforALL initiative thus aims to mobilize the actions of governments, the private sector and civil society around three objectives to be achieved by 2030: Guarantee universal access to modern, accessible and reliable energy services; Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency (EE); and Double the share of renewable energies (RE) in the global energy matrix.
The Government of Guinea-Bissau intends to develop programmes aimed at implementing an energy model based on economic rationality and sustainability, through, on the one hand, the combination between the adoption of energy efficiency measures and the use of energy from endogenous sources, renewable energy sources and, on the other hand, the reduction of extra costs that burden energy prices. The aim is to reduce the country's energy dependence and ensure security of supply. The objectives of the SEforALL initiative for Guinea-Bissau are therefore perfectly aligned with the strategies developed for the energy sector and with the contribution of this sector to achieving SDG #7, to the country's development and to the fight against poverty. Guinea Bissau considers SEforALL as a tool for implementing the emerging Sustainable Development Goal for Energy (SDG #7) and as part of its medium-term planning for the energy sector. SEforALL Guinea Bissau guiding principles for the Development of National Agendas for Sustainable Energy for All in Africa, namely are: Adherence to the principles of sustainable development; Meaningful participation and involvement of all stakeholders; Gender equality and inclusion, etc.
