Abstract
This Joint Decision regulates the conditions for access to fishery resources in waters under the sovereignty and/or jurisdiction of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, by national and foreign artisanal fishing vessels. The general access requirements for the above mentioned vessels wishing to obtain a fishing license must: a) Possess a navigation authorization issued by the Port Maritime Institute or its Regional Delegations; b) Present a health licence issued by the competent authority; c) Land their catch on national territory and export it, if applicable, from a national port authorized by the competent authority; and d) Show a deposit slip for the payment of the fishing license fee. Failure to comply with the obligation set out in subparagraph c) shall subject the vessel, in addition to the corresponding principal sanction set out in the Artisanal Fishing Regulations, to the ancillary sanction of revocation or suspension of the fishing licence. Annexes deal with: 1. Minimum mesh size; 2. Species to be caught, held, landed and marketed; 3. Prohibited fishing gear and techniques; 4. Licence fees.
