Abstract
The Guinea-Bissau Iodized Salt Quality Control Guide aims to: ensure that salt quality meets food-grade salt standards; ensure that the iodine content of salt complies with the country's current standards; verify fraud in production, import, and export; and provide the necessary information for decision-making on corrective measures to ensure the population has access to adequately iodized salt in accordance with national regulations. An effective quality control system will ensure that salt imported or produced locally in Guinea-Bissau contains the required iodine content and meets the physicochemical characteristics of food-grade salt, that packaging, labeling, and certification methods are properly applied, and that appropriate storage and preservation conditions are adhered to.
