Abstract
This Act concerns the control of animal experiments and the protection of animals. “Experiment” is defined in section. Experiments on animals shall be carried out only by persons licensed by the Minister to do so under section 7 of the Act (“licensee”). The license shall specify the purpose of the experiment. No licensee shall perform any experiment for the purpose of gaining skills. Other restrictions on experimenting with animals are prescribed by sections 5 and 6. Permits from the Chief Medical Officer are required for specific experimenting. Each licensee shall keep records of experiments performed and returns shall be made to the Chief Medical Officer. The Chief Medical Officer shall be responsible for inspection. The Minister may make Regulations for the better carrying out of purposes of this Act. (16 sections)
