Abstract
The Act provides for the establishment of the Guyana National Energy Authority and the Energy Advisory Council. The 29 sections are divided into 5 Parts: Short title and interpretation (I); The Guyana National Energy Authority (II); The Energy Advisory Council (III); Powers of the Minister (IV); General (V).
The Authority established under section 3 shall be subject in general to the control and direction of the Minister responsible for energy. The Authority may make rules for proper functioning in accordance with section 8. The Authority shall study and keep under review and advise the Minister on matters relating to the exploration for, production, recovery, processing, transportation, transmission, distribution, purchase, and disposal of power and fuel (sect. 9). Furthermore the Authority shall monitor issued that may be subject to regulation by the Minister pursuant to sections22 and 23. The Council established under section 15. The Council shall consist of representatives of the organizations set out in the Schedule.
