Abstract
These Guidelines set out requirements for conducting biodiversity research in Guyana, in terms of permits and agreements, collection of specimens, reports, safety and responsibility, and return of specimens. Primarily, an Academic or Commercial Research Agreement shall be signed with the Government of Guyana prior to commencing their research and all necessary permits shall be obtained from the Environmental Protection Agency for field work in Guyana. The biodiversity research shall be conducted in accordance with all local laws, government regulations, and international conventions which Guyana is a party to. Moreover, the collection of flora, fauna, microorganisms and germplasm shall be adhered to the recommended local and international practices and all collections under an Academic Research Agreement shall be used only for non-commercial purposes.
