Abstract
This Act grants powers to the Minister to establish pounds, provides for the management and operation of public pounds, the impounding of stray animals and the recovery by owners or disposal of impounded animals.
There shall be appointed a sufficient number of pound keepers for purposes of this Act. An owner of private land may send stray animals found on his or her land to the nearest pound for impounding. The Act prohibits maltreatment of stray animals and improper impounding. A pound keeper shall keep records on impounded animals and keep animals in the pound according to standards as set out by this Act.
