Abstract
This Act regulates the slaughter of bulls, oxen, steers, cows, heifer or calves. No person shall, without permission from the veterinary officer (defined in section 2) slaughter or cause to be slaughtered any cattle with less than one incisor tooth or any female cattle. In case of slaughter, the skin and skeleton of the slaughtered animals shall be retained for at least forty-eight hours for inspection by a veterinary officer or the police. Powers of these inspecting officers are specified in section 5 and 6. Non offending owners of animals shall be compensated for possible damage created by the taking of samples for inspection. Other provisions concern forfeiture of carcasses, obstruction of veterinary officers and prescribe offences and penalties.
