Abstract
This Act amends various provisions part of the Animal Protection Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia 135/2006).
Major changes are related to the adoption of the rules and provisions contained in many Council Directives such as Council Directive 83/129/EEC of 28 March 1983 on the importation of skins of certain types of seals and of their products into the Member States; Council Regulation (EEC) No 3254/91 of 4 November 1991 on the prohibition on the use in the area of Community of stumps and the introduction into the area of Community of fur and products obtained from certain wild animal species originating in countries where they are subjected to sticks or trapping methods which do not comply with international human stewardship standards; Council Regulation (EC) No. 1255/97 of 25 June 1997; Council Directive 98/58/EC of 20 July 1998 on the protection of animals bred for the purpose of production; Council Directive 1999/22 of 29 March 1999 on the keeping of wild animals in zoos; Council Directive 1999/74/EC of 17 July 1999 laying down minimum standards for the protection of laying hens; Commission Directive 2002/4/EC of 30 January 2002 on the registration of chicken holdings; Council Regulation (EC) No. 1/2005 of 22 December 2004 on the protection of animals during transport and related procedures (also amending Directives 64/432/EEC and 93/119/EC and Regulation (EC) No. 1255/97; Council Directive 2007/43/EC of 28 June 2007 laying down minimum rules for the protection of chickens for fattening; Regulation (EC) No. 1523/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2007 prohibiting the placing on the market, import into the European Community or export from the European Community of fur and dogs and products containing such fur; Council Directive 2008/119/EC of 18 December 2008 on minimum conditions for the protection of calves; Council Directive 2008/120/EC of 18 December 2008 on minimum conditions for the protection of pigs; Regulation (EC) No. 1007/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 September 2009 on the sale of seal products; Council Regulation (EC) No. 1099/2009 of 24 September 2009 on the protection of animals at the time of slaughter; Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2010 on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes; Commission Regulation (EU) No. No 737/2010 of 10 August 2010 laying down detailed rules for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) 1007/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the sale of seal products.
