Abstract
This Decree here determines the monetary unit fee for calculating the total fee for waste disposal (expressed in article 2). The unit fee for the calculation of the waste disposal fee is EUR 0.00 for: waste disposed of at a landfill that is part of the waste management center; waste that contains asbestos and that has been deposited on special surfaces (cassettes) at waste disposal sites.
This text further declares that all funds collected from waste disposal fees are used by the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, as for the purposes of financing the construction and improvement of infrastructure for waste management and waste recycling, as well as for appropriate educational and informational activities. Funds collected by collecting fees for waste disposal can be used by the Fund, with the prior consent of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, to finance the preparation, implementation and development of waste management programs and projects and similar activities in the area of conservation, sustainable use, protection and improvement of the environment. The funds collected by charging fees for waste disposal cannot be used for the construction of new landfill sites and the extension of the life of existing landfills.
