Abstract
This Law, as part of general policies of regional development of the Republic of Croatia, establishes specific objectives of management and developmental specificities for those areas present on the national territory and classified as mountainous and hilly areas, with respect to laws governing the regional development. Mountain areas, within the meaning of this Law, are those areas of interest and under special protection of the Republic of Croatia, managed in order to stimulate the necessary demographic regeneration and economic development, while preserving their original biodiversity and landscape diversity.
The text is divided into five main Parts and a total of 34 articles. Main titles are as follows: Basic provisions (Part One); Institutional framework and management (Part Two); Measures for the development of mountain and hilly areas (Part Three); Monitoring and reporting (Part Four); and Transitional and final provisions (Part Five).
