Abstract
This Regulation amends some parts of section 3 of the Regulation on the extension of the jurisdiction of the Republic of Croatia in the Adriatic Sea (Official Gazette 157/2003 and 77/2004) as follows: For EU Member States the implementation of the Ecological and Fishing Zone of the Croatian Republic will begin no later than 1 January 2008.
After paragraph 2, paragraphs 3 and 4 are also amended: Croatia will, through a partnership with the Member States of the European Union and the European Commission, in accordance with its status of a candidate country negotiating accession to the European Union and the importance of promoting good neighborly relations, continue the dialogue on measures to ensure sustainable fishing and the protection of the marine environment in the Adriatic sea, taking into account the fundamental principles of the Common Fisheries Policy of the European Community, and scientific data bases collected through national and international projects (such as the FAO AdriaMed, MEDITS and DemMon project) and the applicable Laws of the Republic of Croatian and its stakeholders. This decision does not in any way prejudice the resolution of other issues with EU member states, which will continue to be dealt in accordance with international Law and in the spirit of friendly relations and good practices of the EU.
