Abstract
This Regulation, based on the provisions of the Croatian Law on radiological and nuclear safety, determines the frequency, content, scope and manner of conducting periodic safety inspections of nuclear installations, in order to ensure safe operation during their working life. The general and special conditions for periodic safety inspections set out in this Regulation shall apply to all nuclear installations except nuclear power plants, by a stepwise approach, taking into account the complexity and specificity of each nuclear installation. The holder of the approval for a nuclear installation shall bear the main responsibility for conducting periodic safety inspections. Periodic safety inspections do not replace routine or specific nuclear safety assessments conducted by the holder of a nuclear installation authorization, but are performed in addition to such procedures to analyze the cumulative effects of aging, change, operational experience, technology development among location-based design and related operational practices. This text transposes the provisions of the Council Directive 2014/87/EURATOM amending Directive 2009/71/Euratom establishing a Community framework for the nuclear safety of nuclear installations.
