Abstract
This Regulation stipulates the manner of keeping herd-books and breeding registers and the division of herd-books, and lays down the criteria that must be fulfilled prior to the classification of a bovine animal into the category of pure-bred breeding animals and its entry into the herd-book or breeding register.
An authorized institution or breeding organization that implements the breeding programme independently shall keep the herd-book and the breeding register.
To qualify for entry in the herd-book or breeding register, a bovine animal must be a pure-bred breeding animal.
The genetic value of bovine animals shall be determined on the basis of the information about their lineage, the productivity and breeding characteristics of their ancestors and siblings, according to the morphology of the bovine animal, as well as on the basis of the information about their productivity characteristics for those breeding categories for which this can be determined.
