Abstract
This Regulation establishes the list of active substances necessary for the treatment of equidae animals (taxonomic family of horses and related animals).
Necessary drugs or substances may be used in the treatment of specific disease states, for therapeutic or zootechnical purposes, where the use of any veterinary medicinal product authorized for use in equidae, would not ensure the healing of that animal, prevent its unnecessary suffering, or guarantee the safety of persons treating such animal (article 2). Article 4 sets out the possible exemption terms in relation to the possibility to exceed the maximum level of residues of veterinary medicinal products in foodstuffs of animal origin.
The Annex is also part of this publication (containing the list of substances required for the treatment of equidae animals).
