Abstract
This Regulation bans the placing on the market and the import and export of cat and dog fur, and products containing cat and dog fur, in order to eliminate obstacles to the functioning of the market and to restore consumer confidence in the fact that the products on the market do not contain cat and dog fur.
The placing on the market and the import and export of cat and dog fur, and products containing cat and dog fur shall be prohibited.
The competent authority shall inform the European Commission of the analytical method used to identify the species of origin of fur.
The competent authority shall report to the European Commission on the enforcement of this Regulation.

This Regulation enters into force on 31 December 2008.

This Regulation transposes the provisions of the: Regulation (EC) No 1523/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2007 banning the placing on the market and the import to, or export from, the Community of cat and dog fur, and products containing such fur; Article 91 of the Customs Act transposes the provisions of Article 79 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2913/92 of 12 October 1992 establishing the Community Customs Code; Article 169 of the Customs Act transposes the provisions of Article 161 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2913/92 of 12 October 1992 establishing the Community Customs Code.
