Decree No. 14 of 1997 of the Ministry of environmental Protection on the classification in zonal categories of the territory of national parks.

The purpose of this Decree is the establishment of the principles and method of classification in zonal categories of national parks, in conformity with international rules, as well as the determination of basic rules of nature management in every single zone. The territory of national parks must be classified in natural, treated and demonstration zones. A natural zone is a natural or a nearly natural area and it is not or slightly affected by human activities, there are no permanent or temporary human settlements, and the presence of buildings is rare. A treated zone is a natural or nearly natural area, where human settlements are sporadic, natural characteristics determine the aspect of the territory, and the restricted use of natural resources does not affect the capacity of renewal of the nature. A demonstration zone is a nearly natural area slightly affected by human activities, where urbanization and the density of population is low, natural resources are predominant, and traditional and extensive farming is determinant. Establishments for demonstrative purposes shall be built in these areas.
