Abstract
Stations are governed by the Minister of Agriculture and are divided into county branches and an office in the capital. They carry out all duties regarding animal health and feedstuff control, and foodstuffs and tobacco control specified in special provisions (primary activities). As part public, part private entities, they may establish enterprises and are supervised professionally by the Minister through a specialized division of the Ministry of Agriculture. The latter gives orders directly to the stations on the following matters: the organization and execution of veterinary duties, the prevention and elimination of contagious diseases, preventing the introduction and export of pests harmful to humans and animals, measures against the processing and marketing of dangerous veterinary products, vaccines, diagnostic products, antiseptic substances, prohibitions on the marketing of foodstuffs detrimental to health; provisions to be taken in case of epidemic and radioactive danger. Article 5 lists the officers of the stations and their duties. The stations have first level jurisdiction and appeals against their decisions may also be lodged.
