Abstract
This Law aims to promote climate neutrality as a result of increased climate protection intentions and commitments, to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the process of decarbonization by participating in the mechanism mandated by the European Union, so to offset the carbon intensity of imported goods. This Law serves for protocols established in the Regulation (EU) 2023/956 establishing a carbon border adjustment mechanism, and it shall be applied on all goods that are listed in the Regulation (EU) 2023/956 (in article 2), if their release into free circulation is requested by an importer established in Hungary or an indirect customs representative. The competent authority according to article 11 of the Regulation (EU) 2023/956 is the authority responsible for climate protection designated in the government decree issued to implement this Law.
